 In addition to providing learning to approximately 5000 adult students, THC is home to 2000 students at our unique 6th form centre. Here are some key facts about this thriving and dynamic Further Education College:

• In 2010, THC 6th Form students achieved a fantastic 94% A-Level pass rate
• In 2010, 77% of THC learners who applied to university got in, that’s 7% above the national average
• THC has over 300 courses, 50 of those are A Levels
• THC students have progressed to Cambridge University each year for the past 4 years, alongside a multitude of other high profile universities such as Cambridge, LSE, Queen Mary, UCL, Goldsmiths, Loughborough, SOAS and Ravensbourne.
• 444 A Level ,BTEC and Access students went to university in 2010
• THC students are: “hard working and well behaved” Ofsted 2009
• THC students “feel safe and well supported” Ofsted 2009
• THC is less than 3 minutes from a DLR, bus, tube or train stop
• Over the last year THC has delivered over 500 people into the work place
• Over the last year, THC has delivered 1475 sector specific qualifications to employees across London
• In the last year, THC has enabled 295 low skilled workers achieve a skills for life qualification
• In the last year THC has helped 172 employees advance their career as a direct result of staff training
• THC has enabled First Buses, in East London to reduce customer complaints by 60%
• THC works with a range of both SME’s and large organisation including: Barts and The London NHS Trust, First Buses, KPMG and The Four Seasons Hotel, Canary Wharf.

Tower Hamlets College offers education out of four principle locations. Its sixth form centre is located at Poplar along with all the hair and beauty courses and our creative arts department. The Arbour Square campus is dedicated to adult learners who are studying Access, Pathway or Youth & Community and Skills for Life. Our Oxford House learners are mainly ESOL students, whilst our East India Dock Road premises house the National Skills Academy for Financial Services providing a corporate environment from which to train or retrain for work in financial services. Some further courses are offered through community centres and local venues enabling easy access to learning no matter where you live.

The College is also home to a dedicated Advice Centre offering both course and employment advice, helping people to find employment by providing job skills training, and assisting in developing CV writing and job interview technique. There is also a recruitment service with jobs boards filled by local employers, so whether you are a student wanting a part time job, or are looking for full time employment, the centre can help you find employment. The Advice Team offer confidential help and guidance on a variety of matters, from answering financial queries to giving course advice, and from helping with childcare problems to pointing you in the right direction for more help, such as counselling, if it is suitable.

Our support services provide a network of additional help so that your time at College is as successful as it possibly can be. Our youth work team organise a calendar of activities to give you the broadest education possible, and work closely with our proactive Students’ Union. The Key Skills Area in the learning centres provides additional support to learners who want extra help with their work regardless of what course they are doing. We’ve also mentoring programmes, volunteering opportunities, work experience links and much, much more to ensure you receive all the support you need to reach your goals.

The facilities at College provide a fantastic place to study. The Atrium Academy hair and beauty salon, motor vehicles workshop, the creative arts media suites and the catering kitchens are all built to work place equivalent. The learning resource centres offer hubs of educational activity, whilst the airy canteen spaces provide the perfect areas to relax over a coffee or snack. Our close links to the City and Canary Wharf give rise to unique opportunities for those who want to go straight into work having completed their studies, whilst our HE Coordinator will offer you the help and advice need to ensure you get on the right university course for you. Combine all of this with a range of exciting and relevant courses, fantastic supportive staff and great facilities, and you have Tower Hamlets College, removing barriers, raising achievement for everyone, an excellent place to get the broadest education in east London.
