Becoming a Mentor

We offer mentors the following opportunities...

  • To develop personal transferable skills relevant to the workplace
  • To increase their awareness of the local community
  • To gain personal satisfaction and insight through supporting a mentee
  • To promote their company and enhance its image

What is involved?

  • Meeting regularly with your Mentee over a period of six months to a year (or until the student leaves the College)
  • Providing objective support and guidance to the Mentee according to the Mentee's aspirations and career plans
  • Ensuring that your meeting places are safe and accessible
  • Liaising with your Mentee's tutor or the Manager of the Mentoring Programme in the event of any concerns
  • Being accessible and reachable at work and at home*

*Although we discourage the exchanging of personal addresses, we expect that ad hoc contact will occur once the Mentee and Mentor develop a friendship. The mentoring relationship is not part of your paid professional work and should not be viewed as such. It is a personal voluntary relationship between two adults.
