What You Study:

The course consists of a minimum of two sessions in college which cover:

  • NVQ Overview
  • Assessment planning and record-keeping
  • Judging evidence
  • Feeding back to candidates
  • Quality assurance

How You Study:

You will study in a group of 8-10 adults which meets for three sessions at the beginning of the course. You will also have individual meetings with your assessor. The real work will be done by yourself outside of the group sessions. You must keep in contact via email and make yourself available to meet the assessor to achieve the tasks required.

Length of Course:

This course usually lasts one academic year, though candidates may complete within that period. New regulations require you to complete the qualification within 18 months of registering with the awarding body. If you fail to complete within the minimum time you will be required to re-enrol if you wish to complete the award.

Assessment:

This is by the production of a portfolio which builds throughout the course. A minimum of one feedback session with a learner must be observed by your assessor. Candidates are also required to take part in a professional discussion which is recorded for your portfolio. Internal and external verifiers both check portfolios as they are completed.

Days and Times: 
3 Wednesdays over the year 4pm - 6pm plus close monitoring until completion
Who this course is for: 
Adults, 21 or over, with a relevant professional or vocational qualification (to level 3) and/or 5 years experience working in their field at an advanced level.
Entry Requirements: 
You must have a role as a candidate-assessor of NVQ within a registered centre, have at least 2 candidates to assess, covering at least 2 NVQ units and be committed to undertaking the course and completing within 12 months
Where this course might take me: 
Students progress to a wide range of professional teaching qualifications and, after a suitable interval, to the V1 Internal Verifiers Award.
