Access to Photography
This course is suited to students who are hoping to pursue a career in the photographic industry, or as preparation for higher education. During the course you will explore several different pathways into the industry including: Studio photography; Portraiture; Reportage photography; Photo Journalism and Travel photography.
The course is delivered as a series of assignments, practical workshops, lectures, student presentations and peer assessments. All assignments are designed to improve technical, visual and analytical skills and simulate working in the industry. On this course, you’ll get to learn about lighting, shooting photos in studios and on locations. You’ll also do all sorts of photographs such as photos for fashion, advertising, newspapers and magazine. It can even be landscape photos, not just portraits.


The photographic industry is largely based upon digital technology and the delivery of the course reflects this, using our industry standard digital imaging resources. Black and white photography including processing and printing as well as Medium Format photography is also covered.

Entry Requirements:
Course applicants are invited to attend an interview with examples of their work, which should show basic photographic skills.
