AS/A Level Economics
Economics deals with the production, distribution, and consumption of wealth. It looks at how individuals, firms, governments, and other organisations make choices and how those choices determine the way society’s resources are used. At AS Level you will study the theory of supply and demand, how wealth is created and why prices are set at particular levels. You will also learn how and why governments intervene in the economy and the problems this may cause. At A2 Level you will find out how economic theory can help businesses to maximise profits and how western governments regulate firms. You’ll also study the economic development of China, India and Bangladesh. Finally, you will study the UK Government’s economic policies comparing its economic achievements with those of its major competitors. Economics combines well with a wide range of science, social science and humanities subjects and is respected by university admissions tutors.
