This course will give you a grounding in both national and international politics as well as recent world affairs. At AS level you will examine the uncodified constitution of the UK and the different layers of government within it (the Prime Minister, Parliament and the judiciary). You will also learn how people become involved in the political system through elections, political parties and pressure groups.

At A2 level you will study international politics beginning with examining the changes in the world order, the global economy and the international institutions that operate within it (including the UN, NATO, the EU and the IMF). You will also study the latest developments in international politics including recent conflicts, regional instability and Britain’s changing role within the world.

Where this course might take me: 
You can progress to university to study subjects such as Politics, International Relations, Development Studies, History, Economics, Law, Business, Sociology or Philosophy. In the long term you can progress into careers in the Civil Service, Local Government, Campaigns, Public Relations, Marketing, Charities, Pressure Groups, Journalism, Legal Profession and Teaching.
