Certificate in Counselling Skills
The aim of this qualification is the improved performance of those who use counselling skills in work settings, e.g. nurses, social workers and teachers. It is intended that learners should be given the opportunity to develop a range of counselling skills and skills in self-awareness and self-assessment. Learners are encouraged to take active responsibility for their own learning.
This course looks at person-centred and other counselling models and is suitable for people with an interest in the field or who would like to gain counselling skills for work-related reasons. Learning is continuous and, depending on the course, assessment is via assignments, course work, role play, group work, experimental learning, discussion and lectures.
By completing this qualification, learners are being trained in the use of counselling skills. They are not being trained as counsellors.
