Diploma In Teaching English (ESOL) in the Life Long Sector DTE(E)LLS/ADTE(E)LLS
Daytime
You will need to complete 150 hours of teaching practice in all. To evidence your teaching you will show schemes of work, lesson plans, individual learning plans, marked work, lesson evaluation and use of the core curriculum.
You will undergo up to 6 formal assessed observations of your teaching by your course tutors.
You will complete written and practical assignments which include:
- Research on how your institution has met the requirements of the Skills for Life Initiative
- Planning and delivery of lessons for learners who need to develop literacy skills
- Responsibility for and completion of diagnostic assessments for a group of learners who you will then teach
- Responsibility for designing a scheme of work for the same group of learners
We can offer support with access to documents related to Skills for Life and other reference and teaching and learning resources through our college learning centre and teacher training resource bank. It would be helpful for you to also have the cooperation of colleagues at your institution to enable you to do some peer observation, and the support of your institution for doing the qualification.
