Building Services Level 2
The skills of Building Services engineers are in great demand. They are responsible for the design, installation, operation and monitoring of the mechanical, electrical and public health systems required for the safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly operation of modern buildings. Their roles include; Plumber, Electrician, Gas Engineer, Heating & Ventilation Engineer, Refridgeration and Air Conditioning Engineer. To become a building services engineer, you should be methodical, able to follow procedures and guidelines and be a good problem solver with good attention to detail.
As well as developing the skills needed for all these careers, you will have a chance to work towards GCSE Maths and English, which are essential for many careers.
You will be required to be a good communicator, be physically fit and confident enough to be able to make decisions alone or as part of a team.
Electricians must have perfect colour vision.
Progression is on to Level 3 or an apprenticeship and employment opportunities include many industries as these skills are needed everywhere - construction, transport, maintenance teams in hospitals, large companies and the entertainment industries.
Due care and consideration will be taken for applications from students with sight or hearing impairments, epilepsy or other issues which may cause concern within the industry under Health and Safety Regulations. Alternative course/career guidance will be offered.
