This course will take your practical skills to a higher level than NVQ 1. You will learn to cook and prepare a variety of different foods, learn about hygiene in the kitchen, team work and health and safety. Much of the course is spent developing catering skills in the training kitchen where you will have the opportunity to prepare meals for sale. A large amount of practical hands-on learning will be gained through work experience at commercial restaurants. If you have specific needs such as reading or writing difficulties, you will receive extensive support.

Entry Requirements: 
Most students complete the Level 1 programme before going onto Level 2. Very capable students may enter straight onto Level 2.
Where this course might take me: 
You can progress into the catering industry or into further catering and chef training.
