Would you like to work in the Public Service sector? Would you like to learn the skills, discipline and knowledge required to equip you for a career in the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Prison Service, Army, Royal Navy, RAF or Marines?

This course enables you to gain a nationally-recognised vocationally-specific qualification in the field of public services.

On this course you will study:

Core units:

  • The Uniformed and non-uniformed Public Services Sector
  • Introduction to Fitness and Lifestyle for working in the public services
  • Personal effectiveness for the public services
  • Diversity in the public services
  • Social responsibility and the value of the citizen in the public services
  • Introduction to health and safety in the public services

Specialist units:

  • Introduction to security procedures in the public services
  • Practical team working in the public services
  • Introduction to map work and navigation skills for the public services
  • Incidents and the public services

In addition you will study Functional Mathematics, English and Information Technology as part of your programme of Foundation Studies.
