9 unit award covering all of the basic hairdressing services. Shampooing and conditioning, styling and finishing, colouring, cutting, perming, working in the industry, client consultation, reception, health and safety in the salon. There is an additional cost for uniform and specialist equipment. The course is full time approximately 14 hours per week. Successful learners could either progress into employment, NVQ level 2 or on to level 3 Diploma.

Entry Requirements: 
3 GCSEs at grade D or above. Entry is by project and trade test and you will be interviewed to assess your commitment to the course. You will be expected to have had work experience and/or a Level 1 qualification and you will need to work voluntarily for one day a week in a salon environment.

You can apply for junior stylist positions or VRQ3 training.
