This course is for you if you are interested in a career in magazine and newspaper journalism. Lecturers with working experience from the industry will teach you practical skills to prepare you well for working in the media. The course is a mixture of classroombased work and practical projects. You will gain knowledge in producing print media, publishing media products, page layout and design, writing and editing copy, etc.

You will gain an insight in to the commercial and economic environment in which the industry operates, as well as the cultural and social context in which news stories develop. Assessment takes place continuously during the course on your practical and written assignments. In the end you will work on a final project which will be externally assessed.

Entry Requirements: 
5 GCSE passes, 2 at grade B or above (preferably including English) and the remainder grade C or above (including Maths) or: First Diploma in Media or: Any other appropriate Level 2 qualifications with GCSE English.
Where this course might take me: 
The Diploma will enable you to apply for a Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND).
