Do you want to become a filmmaker or a TV producer? You can with the help of this course. This hands-on practical course will help you learn practical and theoretical aspects of digital filmmaking.

This course is the equivalent to 3 A levels and is suitable to ambitious young people who enjoy working in a creative environment. It provides a practical and theoretical introduction to the skills, knowledge and understanding that is required to be employable in the world of Film and Television. Through a series of industry related projects you will learn how to respond to a professional brief from researching initial ideas through to a finished evaluated product.

         

Resources
As a student you will gain extensive experience of using broadcast quality, state-of-the-art, equipment including professional Sony digital video cameras, have access to a media studio equipped with vision mixer, green screen and tungsten lights. Computer suites are equipped with Apple Mac Pro computers running industry standard editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, iMovie and Motion.

The Creative Arts Department has excellent links with local universities including Ravensbourne and London College of Communication who offer workshops on putting together a digital portfolio for submission to their courses. The course also receives visits from practitioners in the industry who will talk to you about pursuing a career in the media industries. There are a variety of opportunities for students on the course. These have included: work experience at Channel 4 and the BBC. An example of an opportunity available to current students is 2011 Young Journalists' Academy Summer School, organised by Journalism Education in partnership with The Times.

You can progress to employment or higher education applying for a Foundation or honours degree in a variety of subjects including film and television production; editing; journalism; marketing; video technology; media studies; film studies and publishing
