At the beginning of the course you will explore many aspects of art and design and digital media. During this period you will gain experience in both learning and using new skills. You will be encouraged to take an experimental approach to creating work. During the second part of the course you will be given the opportunity to continue your creative work in a more focused way to allow you to work to your strengths and engage with a creative area of your choice. Your tutor will help you make these choices and they should reflect your chosen career or educational progression.

You will learn through a mixture of practical and theoretical work taught through classroom based sessions, trips, seminars etc.  All students are required to complete a research project which is presented for assessment in the form of a short written piece.

Assessment and feedback on progress is continuous through a series of personal tutorials culminating in a level 2 award.

Applications are accepted from February onwards. Enrolment will take place in September and the course will run through to July.

Days and Times: 
2 days per week approximately 12 hours per week in College
Who this course is for: 
This course is aimed at students who are aged over 19. The course is based around the creative and cultural industries and focuses on providing relevant skills to help you progress in your education.
Entry Requirements: 
A qualification at level 2 and/or a strong portfolio or showreel of creative work which demonstrates a commitment to continued study in your chosen area. An awareness of contemporary practice in your area of interest and an ability to discuss this at interview.
Where this course might take me: 
This level 2 course will lead to level 3 Access Course and then on to University or else straight into the work place.
