Would you like an opportunity to work in the fast moving IT industry? This dynamic new programme can help you take that first vital step into an IT career. This course is the result of a partnership between Tower Hamlets 6th Form College, Lewisham College and some of the UK’s leading companies – Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Associated Mediabase, and Dresdner Kleinwort.
In addition to gaining qualifications and experience you will learn valuable skills designed to take you straight from College into technical support work. You will learn how to set up, install and troubleshoot computers. In the first year you study a City & Guilds IT Qualification, Maths, English, IT Key Skills and Employment Skills. There is also a two week work placement where you can put your new found skills into practice.
A six-month paid work placement is available after the first year where you take the NVQ 2 Installation and Support of IT Systems qualification while learning on the job.
Entry Requirements:
You should be aged 16 or 17 with no more than four GCSEs at grade C and must want to work in an IT support role. You will be interviewed and must pass an IT aptitude test.
