Step up to Health and Social Care Foundation Learning (ESOL)
Who is this course for?
This course is specifically for people who have English as a Second or other Language. In this course you will study health and social care as well as improving your English. By the end of the year you will take a qualification in ESOL as well as health and social care.
What is this course about?
This Level 1 programme will develop your personal skills and employability in caring sector. You will investigate the realities of working in health and social care and the skills required. Further units will develop your personal effectiveness and understanding of social responsibility at work and financial management. Optional units include looking after children, images of people, health in the environment and exploring local services. At the same time, you will develop your skills in Written and Spoken English.

•An entry certificate in Skills for Working Life or Life Skills or other Entry level qualifications
•An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy
•Related interests and experiences
Next steps
You may progress to a Level 2 qualification (BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care) or focus on a specific area such as Early Years. Alternatively, you might choose to seek employment in a caring sector or move on to a related vocational programme (NVQ).
