Workright is a course aimed at adults with learning difficulties and disabilities who want to develop work based skills.  This is a two year course and students need to be able to remain on the course to complete their portfolio.
The course is run at Arbour Square during the week.  You can choose to do 4 sessions in the week plus extra sessions from across the Aspirations courses.
You will need to do a work placement for one day a week out in the community. You will be able to choose your placement around your own skills and interests.  Students on placement now are working in a nursery, in retail and at Spitalfields City Farm.
You will learn:

  • Health and safety in the workplace
  • Being responsible in the workplace
  • Working with others
  • About being at work

Also, students do different craft activities, learn about how to present themselves at an interview and about dealing with work based issues.
The course also has visiting groups who come in and work with the students, such as Action for Kids and the MAP Squad.
The course can last up to two years and at the end of the course you will receive a certificate from ASDAN to say you have passed the course.
Each session runs for two and a half hours, with a half hour break.
