Over 5000 employers were involved in the development of the new Diplomas which offer a direct way of learning based around an employment sector.

The Diploma can also be the first step towards college or university. It will give you the research and analytical skills you need to succeed on a degree course. If you do an Advanced Diploma universities will regard it as equivalent to three-and-a-half A levels.

The diplomas will be offered to students at the following levels:

• Foundation: Equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grades D-G
• Higher: Equivalent to 7 GCSEs at grades A*-C
• Progression: Equivalent to 2 A levels
• Advanced: Equivalent to 3.5 A levels
• Extended: Equivalent to 4 A levels
