Towards a More Sustainable Future...
We all have a responsibility to do our bit to protect the planet for future generations and here at THC we are committed to going green. Great efforts are being made to make our College as carbon neutral as possible - we are working hard towards a more sustainable future.
Our College has seven pledges and we ask staff and students to sign up to them. Our pledges are:
- I will remember to recycle
- I will try to use public transport and walk as much as possible
- I will turn off the computer AND monitor after use
- I will report any dripping taps or water leaks
- I will avoid wasting paper
- I will switch off lights after using a room
- I will spread the word and encourage my colleagues and students to go green
In addition to our pledges and the obvious recycling bins all around College we run lots of "Green" projects at THC to encourage people to do their bit.
- Environment Week with a series of events
- Taking part in World Environment Day
- Taking part in Earth Hour
- Nappy Project
- Paper making and paper jewellery
- Natural ink dying
- Yarn spinning
- Painting water glasses
- Recycling airTHC plane
- Installing 85 cycle racks across our sites to encourage use of bikes instead of cars to get to College
- Getting involved with the Cycle at Work scheme
