Tower Hamlets College was at the heart of the community this weekend as it landed its Boeing airTHC at Paradise Gardens in Victoria Park.

The College was there promoting all its sixth form and adult courses, as well as its Employment Solutions Centre that can help the unemployed get back into work. The plane proved a hit with the crowds as it drew people in, curious as to what THC was doing there, and why exactly we had the inside of a plane with us.

"People come and ask us what the plane is all about, and then we get to talk to them about what College has to offer. It's a fantastic way of starting a conversation, and for many it's the first steps to then becoming a student at College," says Vicky Maskell, Marketing Coordinator at THC.

airTHC, the College's fictional airline, highlights all the fantastic facilities, people and activities that make up College. By being a part of this exciting two day event it is shouting loudly about why all staff and students are so proud to belong to College, and why they want to continue their commitment to the community in the years to come, especially in light of the proposed job cuts there.

"It's a great way to engage with people. They've all come for a fun day out, but when they see we can offer advice on their future, whether that's in education or employment, they are genuinely please to stop and chat – especially as if they have children, they are happily entertained on the plane seats!" commented Afshan Habib, Employment Advisor at THC. airTHC lands again at City Airport Fun Day on 4th June. So come and see what all the fuss is about.
