Goal scorers: Allen-Cowans (2)

Man of the Match: Allen-Cowans

This fixture saw the THC team travel the long journey to Southend, with something to prove after the strong words they received regarding their lack of commitment in the defeat against Havering. The THC players were confused at the amount of ‘green space’ they were seeing, I think a few thought we had entered the Emmerdale TV set.
The game started in usual fashion, THC conceding an early goal due to our boys still thinking about PFC rather than the 11 opposition players in front of them. But as the game started to flow, we started to dominate, and the boys were putting in some serious effort which was very impressive, the telling off last week must have hit home. We deservedly struck the equaliser with a move that would have blessed the Emirates, finished clinically by Allen-Cowans.
The opposition were solid, organised and unbeaten thus far, but we were in control, until the last 15 minutes. Two goals in quick succession from South East Essex College was a devastating blow for the team, but we staged a late comeback in the fading light to put on some late pressure, the reward of fish and chips from the beach was still a possibility.
Time was up and the boys had lost undeservedly. The management team had only praise to offer through their feedback, superb attitude and commitment was displayed by every player. We now have a string of home games; time to make Bartlett Park a fortress, we have enough talent on show to turn this season around. Special mention to Allen-Cowans, an excellent performance that has set the standard for the rest of the season.
