Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (replaces NVQ Level 2)
Level 2 CCYPW has been developed in line with the National Occupational Standards developed by Skills for Care and Development and Skills for Health. They represent the changes that have occurred in social care practice and form the basis of regulation of the workforce.
Level 2 is the required qualification for 50% of the workforce in regulated care services. It is considered to be the minimum qualification required by a care worker. This qualification will be appropriate for those working in private care homes and homes run within the public health system.
This vocational qualification is designed to support adults who want to achieve a recognised qualification. This course involves being assessed in the work place and building a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your skills. For this course you are required to be in work placement 2 days a week.
GCSE Maths (Under 19s)
We help many students throughout the College to retake GCSE Maths and success rates are excellent for students who are prepared to work hard and do at least two hours a week of private study and homework. To retake the qualification you normally need a GCSE Maths at grade D already. If you do not have this we will offer you a pre-GCSE course that will bring you up to speed in a year and you can then take the GCSE the following year.
The course is an intensive repeat of the entire GCSE Maths syllabus. You will be able to practice past papers, use a specialist computer program to support your learning, and use some materials specially designed to improve your understanding of topics through discussion and reflection. The course fits in with all timetables in Business, Science, ICT, Childcare and Creative Arts at Intermediate and Advanced Level, as well as with A level timetables.
