Science is for everyone with an interest in their immediate surroundings or the universe in general. Our courses allow you to expand your knowledge of our solar system, understand different organisms and study the nature of behaviour of chemicals. We offer a variety of academic and vocational courses to suit your needs including pure science and science courses combined with other subject areas. Our up-to-date laboratories are equipped with interactive whiteboards and data login equipment for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The Science Department has its own laptops for students’ use and an IT suite. As a student in the Science Department you will take part in visits and trips relevant to your course. If you are studying for a vocational course you will also be able to take part in work placements, to provide hands-on approach to your studies. We will support you in your studies through a variety of teaching methods and workshops, tutorials and learning mentors. The Science Department has a long history of high student achievement. Many of our A level students have gone on to study medicine and dentistry at top universities. We have good links with Medical Schools and prepare you for entry to Medicine. We also provide an opportunity for students’ whose first language is not English to take the IELTS qualification as an alternative to GCSE English for university entry.
