You can gain skills in trade areas that include carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, plumbing, brickwork, tiling and electrical. Progression is to Level 1 Multiskills where you can focus on your chosen trade. Future employment opportunities include work within any industry which involves construction tasks including building site work, where you may be part of the construction of a new building, a road system, an airport, a hospital, even an architectural wonder.

Due care and consideration will be taken for applications from students with sight or hearing impairments, epilepsy or other issues, such as asthma, which may cause concern within the industry under Health and Safety Regulations. Alternative course/career guidance will be offered.

Building Services Level 2

 The skills of Building Services engineers are in great demand. They are responsible for the design, installation, operation and monitoring of the mechanical, electrical and public health systems required for the safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly operation of modern buildings. Their roles include; Plumber, Electrician, Gas Engineer, Heating & Ventilation Engineer, Refridgeration and Air Conditioning Engineer.  To become a building services engineer, you should be methodical, able to follow procedures and guidelines and be a good problem solver with good attention to detail.

As well as developing the skills needed for all these careers, you will have a chance to work towards GCSE Maths and English, which are essential for many careers.

You will be required to be a good communicator, be physically fit and confident enough to be able to make decisions alone or as part of a team. 

Electricians must have perfect colour vision.

Progression is on to Level 3 or an apprenticeship and employment opportunities include many industries as these skills are needed everywhere - construction, transport, maintenance teams in hospitals, large companies and the entertainment industries.

Construction Multi-Trade aims to give an insight into the construction industry and a nationally recognised qualification in a related trade.

Are you are interested in learning all aspects of trade skills, which include carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, plumbing, brickwork, tiling and electrical? This course will enable you to work towards employment in the industry of your chosen craft. If you would like to learn practical skills that you can use at home as well, then this course will be ideal for you.

As well as developing new construction skills you will be studying English, Maths and IT as part of your course.

Entry Requirements:
No formal qualifications, but you will be asked to complete a basic reading and writing assessment to ensure you are at the right level to study. You will have an interview.

Who is this course for?
People who would like to consider a future within the construction industry and are keen to develop their basic construction skills and knowledge.

If you successfully complete your course, you will be entitled to an achievement bonus of up to £100
