We know it can be challenging deciding how and where to study, planning your career and setting yourself the right targets to get there.

Whether you have firm ideas about what you want to study and have a career plan, or you are looking for new inspiration and a change of direction, our team of friendly Careers and Course advisers are available to help you along the way.

Our Advisers offer a client-centred, confidential, impartial service, delivered by professionally qualified staff, who offer advice that will help you identify the best options available to you so that you can make informed choices.

The college holds the Matrix Quality Standard for Information Advice and Guidance. This means you can expect to receive a high standard of advice and support that is confidential, impartial and completely free of charge.

All the advice and guidance we offer is available to not only students at New City College, but also to prospective students and the public.

Careers Advice

The Careers Advice team is available to all students at all stages of their college journey. Our qualified and experienced Careers Advisers are on hand to assist you with making decisions about career and course choices, develop your employability skills while studying, or investigating what your future options are when you leave us, we’ll be there to help you through the process. We operate an appointment service and booked appointments are available for more in-depth discussions.

The Careers Advice team can help you with:

·       Job search, CV, job applications and preparing for job interviews
·       Preparing  for, choosing and applying to University, including UCAS
·       Higher Education student finance
·       Advice on alternatives to university

Course Advice

Need help deciding which course is right for you? Our friendly course advice team can help you decide and guide you through the application and enrolment process. They can also advise you on fees, how to pay and the level of financial help and assistance that New City College can offer its students.

New City College holds Open Events throughout the year. At these events, you will have the opportunity to meet tutors from all course areas, student representatives and the Careers, Information, Advice and Guidance Team, available to answer any questions you may have.

Student & Welfare Advice

Our Student Welfare Advisor offers you advice, support and information on a wide range of non-academic issues relating to your general welfare and personal development services for students at the College. Advisers provide a non-judgmental and confidential service, in line with the college’s data protection policy. The types of issues we regularly provide advice on are:
