BUSINESS STUDENTS VISIT KPMG AND GET TIPS ON HOW TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS STARS
Aspiring young business stars learnt what it is big business is looking for in its future recruits and how to go on to become successful in a business career. Students from Tower Hamlets College visited the head offices of KPMG in Canary Wharf and attended a series of presentations and information sessions to find out more about the KPMG STAR Programme.
The students, who are currently studying BTEC business courses aspire to have careers in finance and business at the end of their courses. The sessions were designed to help them prepare for and be confident in applying for internships there over the next year.
In the last few years, the college has been successful in placing more than 40 students into the programme, with many being kept on permanent positions in KPMG. Last year KPMG offered 40 student Internships and 23 Tower Hamlets College students were selected.
KPMG’s STAR programme is hugely subscribed by the College’s students every year, in recognition of it being one of the best internship programmes providing invaluable opportunities to gain business and finance experience at an international company.
Students heard presentations from senior KPMG managers about the quality of intern they are looking for as well as understanding more about the company itself and the opportunities available to ambitious interns.
They also spoke with former Tower Hamlets College students who were successful interns and took part in a question and answer session with the former students and KPMG managers.
John Waite, Head of Business and Finance at the College said:
“We are really grateful to KPMG for giving our students the time today to find out more about their STAR Programme. Sessions like this will be really beneficial in helping them prepare strong applications for internship opportunities.”
