CANARY WHARF IT APPRENTICE’S DELIGHT AT WINNING TOP INDUSTRY AWARD
IT apprentice Sadia Chuhan, 20, is toasting her success after winning the Rising Star in IT 2015 award at the everywoman in Technology Awards, held in London at the Hilton Hotel, on Park Lane.
Sadia an apprentice project manager with global information technology firm Thomson Reuters, whose offices are based in Canary Wharf, won the award in recognition of her positive attitude to her role and the impact she has made ,which has encouraged the company to expand its apprenticeship programme.
She beat two other nominees to the award and she joins a select group of women recognised as being high achievers and go-getters within the IT industry.
Sadia was placed in her apprenticeship role at Thomson Reuters by Tower Hamlets College after attending a bootcamp and training sessions run by the College to help prepare apprentices for interviews and assessments. The College has successfully placed over 200 apprentices into leading London businesses and runs bootcamps at its George Green campus on East India Dock Road.
The everywoman in Technology Awards are supported by techUK and leading global technology companies. The awards champion the advancement of woman in technology and showcase the diversity of talents throughout the industry. It is also an opportunity for the IT industry to close the gender gap, as only 16 per cent of women fill roles in the IT and telecoms industries.
