Students celebrate top A-Level results and make plans for successful futures
A-Level students at Tower Hamlets College are today celebrating after their hard work helped them to achieve the top grades they need to go on to university or into work at leading London companies.
In the last few years Tower Hamlets College has posted impressive student performances and results, and this year the trend continued, with more students than ever achieving high grades. One achieved three A* grades and has offers to study mathematics at Cambridge or Bristol Universities.
The College recorded an increase to 28% of A level grades at A*, A or B in contrast to the national trend.
Three per-cent of results were at A* grades.
A 100% pass rate was achieved in 15 subjects including Business, Computing, Economics, English Literature, English Language, Government and Politics, Italian, Sociology and Spanish.
Overall, the College maintained its strong track record of A-Level results with a 92% pass rate.
On the day, outstanding individual achievements were delivered by students including:
Fela Maslen, who achieved an impressive three A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics and an A in Biology. Fela, 18, lives in London Fields and his top grades now mean he may have an opportunity to take up a place at King’s College, Cambridge to study mathematics. He described how Tower Hamlets College provides a good teaching environment, giving students the autonomy they need to study.
Brandon Ryan-Rahmani, from Bow, achieved an impressive two A*s in Accounting and Business Studies and an A in Economics. He is now looking forward to starting an internship with Ernst and Young, the leading international professional services company, based in Canary Wharf. Brandon spoke about how supportive he found the College. He said that he was surprised at the high level of individual attention available.
Katie Hogg, from the Isle of Dogs, achieved an A* in Sociology and an A in English Language and Literature. She is overjoyed that she is now going to Royal Holloway University to study psychology and was ‘over the moon that I got my first choice.’
Tanvir Ahmed from Poplar, gained an A* in Mathematics, A in Further Mathematics and B in Physics and will study mechanical engineering at University College London (UCL). He praised the quality of the teaching at the College which has helped him secure a place at this top London University.

“We have continued to increase our A-Level high grades and maintained our high standards of success. Many of our students can now look forward to pursuing their studies at top universities and we wish them every success in their future studies and careers.”
