NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Early Years Education and Care
About the Course
This course prepares learners to work with children from birth to five years and includes knowledge of children aged five-seven.
Mandatory units:
Theme 1 – Health and well-being
• Healthy lifestyles through provision of food and nutrition
• Healthy lifestyles through exercise
• Physical care routines
• Children’s emotional well-being
• Support children who are unwell
• Understanding the needs of mothers and babies during pre-conception, pregnancy and first year of life
Theme 2 – Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
• Introduction to the role of the early years practitioner
• Understand legislation relating to safeguarding, protection and welfare of children
• Using legislation relating to health and safetyUsing legislation relating to equality, diversity and inclusive practice
• Working in partnership
Reflecting on practice
• Reflecting on practice in the early years

- Learners should be at least 16 years of age
- CACHE does not set any other entry requirements but college providers may have their own guidelines
- Progress onto the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator)
- Employment in a variety of roles in an early years setting (however it does not provide a license to practice)
