Support With Courses
Course advisers give advice and guidance on college courses to external applicants and to students currently at the college. They attend external school and community events and are available at open evenings, advice and interview sessions, and enrolment.
The learning centres at Arbour Square and Poplar provide a range of course materials to support students at every level. Students can also access the e-books, DVD, and periodical collection. The IT area provides computing, scanning, and colour photocopying facilities with support from our trained IT support staff. They offer study space for different needs: at Poplar there is a silent study space, a quiet zone, and a group working area. Arbour Square also runs conversation classes for ESOL learners. When students enrol they will receive an induction to the area and information on how to access the IT network from college and home.
Mentoring gives students the opportunity to discuss their options and receive extra support from an industry professional from Canary Wharf and the City. We have mentors from businesses such as law and accountancy companies.
Student Advisers give students information and advice on financial and legal issues, as well as issues relating to benefits, immigration, and welfare in general. They can also advise on childcare support.
If you have been invited to attend an interview with us, we have prepared a document to guide you through this process, making sure you have all the information you need before attending your interview. You can view this document by clicking here.
The college administers bursary schemes. Funds are allocated to students needing support with materials and other educational costs. These include the 16-18 Bursary, the Mayor's Education Bursary, the college's 19+ Bursary, and the bursary for students taking out the 24+ Adult Learning Loan.
