All emailed applications will be acknowledged. If you do not hear from us within 4 weeks of the closing date it will mean that your application has not been successful.

How soon can I expect to hear the outcome of my application?

When will references be taken up?

We usually take up references following an offer; however we reserve the right to take up references prior to interview stage. If you do not want us to contact your referees prior to interview please make sure that this is noted on your application form.

I am interested in several jobs you have advertised, can I fill in one form for the various jobs?

No, each of our jobs has a unique reference number with a job description and person specification relevant to that job and it is essential that you tailor your application to the relevant post.

Can I apply for a job on a job share basis?

All posts may be regarded as potentially open to job share. If you wish to apply for a job on a shared basis, please indicate this during the recruitment process.  We will consider carefully all requests to work on a job share basis.

Why do you monitor equality and diversity information and what do you do with the information?

The equality and diversity information which you are asked for when you complete an application form is used to help us monitor the effectiveness of our recruitment. It is not used as part of the selection decision and the selection panel do not see this information. In addition as a public organisation we legally have to provide regular statistics about our employees and potential candidates.

Will I have to disclose a criminal record?

Yes, as we are a Further Education College we are exempt under The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. This means that all criminal records must be disclosed. This does not mean that having a criminal record however, will necessarily prevent you from working in the College. This will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances and the background of the offence. Any information about a previous record needs to be disclosed as soon as an offer of employment is made and will be treated in strict confidence and securely maintained. All members of staff working in the College are required to undergo a CRB check.

Do you keep a list of people interested in employment with Tower Hamlets College?

Unfortunately it is not possible to maintain a general register of interested people in possible future positions. Therefore we cannot accept speculative application forms or CVs.

Can I just send my CV instead of completing an application form?

In accordance with our equal opportunities policy all candidates must complete an application form and we therefore cannot accept CVs.

Where can I find a copy of your equal opportunities policy?

Please click here to view our Equality & Diversity Policy and Single Equality Scheme.

Do you reimburse travel expenses incurred for attending interviews?

Unfortunately we are not able to refund any travel costs incurred for attending interviews.
